OPWDD (Office of People With Developmental Disabilities) programs serve children and adults with a developmental/intellectual disability* including autism, down syndrome, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, genetic disorders, neurological impairment.
*serious injury, malformation, or disease of the central nervous system with documented onset prior to age 22

In the fresh country air, children, adolescents and adults gain crucial skills while their caregivers receive a much-needed break. The upstate program runs in the summer and year-round on select weekends and holidays.

They’ve got a whole life ahead of them. Our day habilitation program helps recent graduates and young individuals in Brooklyn and Manhattan develop their independence and integrate into the community.

The process at CARES is streamlined,
here’s how it works.

Intake

Once you are referred to CARES, we walk you through the paperwork and intake process to obtain approval and prepare you for services.

Staffing

Following approval, we assign a provider who speaks your language so you can set up a schedule that fits your lifestyle.

Progress

We consistently monitor your progress, maintain ongoing communication and strive to help you meet and exceed expectations!
